On December 21, 2023, the Saint Francis High School National Honor Society played Santa for a day and delivered Secret Santa gifts to the teachers around the school.

While some people think of Christmas as a time to receive gifts and talk about the “new thing,” the National Honor Society wanted to remind others that during this hectic and stressful time, doing little things around the school is a great morale booster.

“Sometimes when it is the holiday season things get really intense, and the candy bar from my Secret Santa brought a smile to my face,” said Language Arts teacher Glenn Morehouse-Olson.

The Secret Santa gifts was a brand new project for the National Honor Society. The President of the National Honor Society, Riley Brennhofer, explained why it was important to the group.

“I really wanted us to do something thoughtful for some of the staff at Saint Francis High School,” Brennhofer said.

It was also important to the National Honor Society to return to the level of involvement that they once had within the school before the COVID-19 pandemic. As the new president, Brennhofer wanted to step up to the challenge.

“My goal this year is to create a foundation for involvement to prosper in the coming years,” Brennhofer said. “The Secret Santa was a really big concept to coordinate, and with the huge success of the project, it only motivates me to think about what else I can do to pave a path for the future of [the National Honor Society].”

Following the distribution of the unexpected gifts, the teaching staff felt grateful and appreciated.

“I thought that the National Honor Society’s Secret Santa was a really nice surprise,” said Morehouse-Olson, “and [it made] a good day brighter.”
