Over the years, St. Francis varsity wrestling has been very successful. There are currently four SFHS students ranked in the state. Senior Tanner Kunshier is ranked 4th, Senior Mitch Wilson is ranked 3rd, Senior Cole Kirpach is ranked 5th, and Senior Luke Lipinski is ranked 9th.

Kunshier and Kirpach has been ranked for the past three years. Wilson has been ranked for two years, and this is Lipinski’s first time being ranked top ten in the state.

This season, the team is off to a great start with an impressive win streak. They are working around injuries and continuing to work hard during the season.

“I’m enjoying spending my senior season making memories with the team,” said Kirpach.

Although they are very excited about being ranked, Kunshier shares what it means to him to hold the top fourth spot in the state.

“I don’t think your rank really matters, it’s just a number,” he said. “All that matters is where you end up on the podium in March at the Xcel.”

Wilson believes the Saints should have another successful year and is eager to see what this season has in store.

As the season continues, the team is working hard to hope that their hard work will pay off again in March.
