The Robotics Club

The robotics program is hosted by FIRST,  which stands for “for inspiration and recognition of science and technology.” FIRST is a global robotics community and is the world’s leading youth-serving nonprofit. Their goal is to prepare young people for the future and to advance STEM education. FIRST hosts Lego league as well as robotics and tech.

Our school’s Robotics club is about teamwork and making robots to compete against other robotics clubs. They are given a task that they then have to design and create a robot to complete said task. There are four teams that make up the robotics club. The mechanical team which builds the frame and structure of the robot, the programming team that programs the robot to do the task and to move it how they want it to, the electrical team hooks up all the wiring to connect the frame and the programming together, and finally the marketing team gets the club out there and gets the sponsors.

Our robotics team has previously won the “2018 Rookie All Star Award“ at the Minnesota 10000 Lakes Regionals and they also won “2020 Excellent In Engineering Award” at the Lake Superior Regionals.

Mrs. Dobson runs the robotics club at our school. Robotics is jump-starting the season by going to Saint Cloud on the 4th of December for a training program for people who are interested. The club also will have some more off-season events and meetings coming up. The start of the season kickoff event will be on January 8th. After that robotics will be meeting every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, until the robotics first competition will be on the first weekend in March.
