1. It’s about the journey, not the destination. Yes, a bike or a car might be faster, but that’s not what it’s about. Longboarding is an escape. You can gently cruise around town just listening to music, and contemplating life and your problems.
2. You’ll always have something to talk about with your friends, and strangers. From the kind of deck, trucks, wheels, bearings, assorted stickers, you have a truly unique board you can talk about. From the spots you frequently visit to the time you fell while going down a massive hill and ate tar. There’s always something interesting.
3. You’ll become more active, and get in better shape, which improves your confidence. Longboarding becomes one of your favorite physical activities. You’ll put dozens of miles on your longboard. It’s like Dr. Seuss –  “Oh, the Places You’ll Go.”
It builds and tones your legs. You’ll have something to look forward to after school or work. Getting muscles and getting in shape does wonders for your confidence and self esteem.
4. You rediscover familiar places, and see them in a whole new light. A boring hill becomes an asphalt dream. You’ll discover new places and spots everywhere you’ll go.
5. It builds character. Falling hurts, but quitting is worse than any fall. You have to get back up every time you fall. You’ll gain some scars, but who wants to die without any scars?
