Student Council Elections were held on Monday, May 9 and the student body was able to vote for representatives for each grade level.

This year, President Camille Zupfer was appointed for a second term and Jill Cherney will step into the role of Vice President. Current Vice President Carmen Kivisto stepped down to pursue her studies through PSEO.

“I have been lucky enough to be the adviser at St Francis High School for 16 years,” said Julie Cuscaden. “Student council is a student led organization that helps build school climate by having activities that students can get involved in as well as some volunteer opportunities.”

Cuscaden felt there was a good crop of candidates.

“They all have great leadership and the teachers who signed their recommendations have wonderful things to say,” she said.

Autumn Doerr is a sophomore who has a lot of friends who told her that student council is fun and she really wanted to be apart of it. Autumn was elected to represent the junior class.

Conor Sullivan ran for his third year and earned a spot as a senior.

“It is a great way to see how school works and to get involved,” Sullivan said.

Elizabeth Vang has been in student council since 5th grade, but this was her first year in the high school as a freshman representative. She will be representing the sophomore class next year.

By the end of the day Monday, 20 students had been elected to serve on Student Council next year.
