Kelsi Novitsky, Editor-in-Chief

Kelsi Novitsky has been on “The Crier” staff for three years, previously serving as a News Editor and Managing Editor. This year, Kelsi has been granted the position of Editor-in-Chief, alongside Jessie Rochel. Last year, Kelsi attended the national journalism conference in Kansas city, Missouri. This year, Kelsi attended the National Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota. While at the conference, she was given the chance to sit in on a press conference with Daniel Radcliffe. She also competed in News Write-Offs, where she took Superior, earning a perfect score and no critiques.

Kelsi has been writing since sixth grade, when her poetry was published in “A Celebration of Young Poets.” Her artwork was published again in “Stars in our Hearts” competitive poetry collection in 2011.

Outside of the Crier, Kelsi has performed on stage as Anne Frank, done tech for various theater productions, and played bass clarinet in Wind Ensemble and pit orchestra. She was in the all-conference band as first-chair bass clarinet this January. She is also the current captain of the St. Francis Marching Saints color guard. Kelsi is a black belt in martial arts and took Ultimate Champion for the USA karate competition season in 2009.

After high school, Kelsi will be going to NDSU to major in print and broadcast journalism and to minor in marketing.
