Spring Into All New Style: Winter’s Passed It’s Time To Air-Out Wardrobes

Spring brings warmer weather, chirping birds, and hopefully a new life to our wardrobe.

This year’s Spring styles include far beyond the basic florals and pastels. They venture far and wide and present bold stripes and delicate leather. Tribal print is also making a comeback this season along with a fierce love for lace.

Bold stripes, especially of the black and white variety, are a big deal this March, April and May. My personal favorite is a print called Missoni, a sophisticated, bold zigzag print. This print is loud and noticed easily but carries a very formal look when used as a romper dress or a chiffon shirt paired with skinny jeans and flats.

The winter staple, leather, is coming into spring but is taking a new form. Draping and pleating are the new ways to wear leather. In floaty dress form and as a soft pleated skirt, delicate leather takes runways by storm.

The bohemian-tribal style, present last year, is likely to reappear this spring as well; in a new way stylists like to call  global chic. Mixing different prints from varying ethnicities is all the rage. This trend follows the bohemian “hipster” look of last year, but  includes more lively colors such as sapphire blues and vibrant oranges.

Of course, none can ever forget the lace, pastels and florals that forever represent spring. Lace this year seems to not be minimalistic but instead bold, appearing mostly in black and white. Florals this year are often muted and not as bold and colorful as one can probably recall from last year. The muted colors do however go with the “hipster” phase designers seem to be encouraging.

Don’t think that all winter clothes one has stocked up on are now useless for the coming warmer months. Skinny jeans can be paired with flats, instead of boots, and a floral print blazer. A black leather bomber jacket can be paired with a loose tribal print scarf and some bright flats. Flat heeled boots can be paired with a lace shift dress.

Winter is coming to a close and it’s time to shed some light into any wardrobe. Add a pop of color, a dash of floral and some lace; plus a bold stripe shirt anyone can be well on the way to a fashion-fitting spring.
