JV Volleyball starts season with a win against Cambridge

After an exciting win over rival school Cambridge-Isanti, SFHS  on September 15, volleyball players were eager to detail the win.

The games were close, with the Saints coming up 25-23 both games.

“It was a good win over a rival team,” said player Summer Olson.”The girls played one of their best games.”

She felt that being vocal and having good communication, leaving no holes and not dropping balls contributed to the win.

Teammate, Sarah Antinozzi also gave some input on what she thought was the most important thing to do in a game.

“Timing is huge,” said Antinozzi. “Sometimes they just thrown you in, so you have to be ready for anything.”

Antinozzi also said the girls stayed focused and on their feet to really help in an unpredictable game.

Varsity Volleyball head coach, Tracey Norton, has high expectations for this year’s JV team.

“We thought going into the season they’d be very successful.” said Norton

The win over Cambridge was one of player Grace Menge’s favorite memories so far this year.

“We are very aggressive and work well as a team,” said Menge.
As for goals for the season, Menge wants to improve personally and to prepare herself for a higher level of play, but she also has high hopes for the team.

“As a team, I want to have more wins than losses and to improve as a team,” she said.
