High School Jobs Series: Pizza Ranch

High School Jobs Series: Pizza Ranch

Now that you’re in high school you could consider looking for a job, Pizza Ranch is one of many businesses hiring high schoolers.

Our reporter, Brielle Edin went out to interview a higschool employee and her manager.

Employee, Maleah Glass, has worked at Pizza Ranch for 3 ½ years and said “My management and the way we run our company” is what she likes most about working at Pizza Ranch.

Manager, Ava Schmeichel, responded, “Pizza Ranch has many job opportunities.” “Our most common position which is where you start off is called a GSA and that stands for guest service attendant. They are running pizzas, they’re wiping tables, they’re taking pizza orders and any other extra things to go above and beyond for our guests.” “Once they get comfortable with the GSA job we’ll bump them up to training into something like buffet coordinator or POS or phones and out the door.”

Maleah Glass said “I would personally say always work in the back of the house and never in front of the house. They are really rough in front of the house.” when asked what she would say to someone considering applying to Pizza Ranch.

Ava Schmeichel said “Back-of-house positions include pizza maker, you’ll be making pizzas we also have a dishwasher position. That position is very important because we have many people coming in through this restaurant and grabbing lots of plates.”

“Definitely try to get a job you will stick with through high school because bouncing around looks so bad on resumes, I figured out so I would just say stay at one place” Maleah recommends.

Ava Schmeichel advised “I would say don’t let your age stop you from thinking that you can go above and beyond. Your age doesn’t define you, your work ethic does. You want to show that you want to be here, that you want this job. no one is forcing you, you’re going out on your own.” Ava remembers when she asked if they were hiring 15-year-olds and they said yes and since then she has worked her way up to her current spot as a manager.

If you love pizza, this may be the job for you!
