A lot of middle schoolers go into high school wanting to try something new. Senior Walker Lane broadened his horizons deciding to play football his freshman year going into the fall season.
“My senior year will be my fourth year playing,” said Lane.
Lane is a DL (Defensive Lineman), Lane has been a DL ever since he started football freshman year.
“Yeah it’s fun to hit people,” he said.
Last year the Saints had a devastating loss to the Andover Huskies 20-18 in the Mississippi 8 conference finals. Lane believes that this year they’ll be the team to beat in the conference. “Yes, our team will be good this year but we have a long ways to go,” said Lane.
This year Lane believes they’’ll be the top two seed with Andover and St.Francis coming in at one and two, to play a rematch game for a ticket to state and a chance at winning a state title. Lane also shared about last year's scandal with head coach and how this year they’re trying to rebuild.
Lane also had a comment about the new head coach, Brent Swaggert.“He’s a very good overall coach he’s not one sided, just very good overall,” said Lane. “I can’t believe this is my senior year and my high school football career is coming to an end soon.”
