Class of 2011 Graduates

Class+of+2011+Graduates

Although the day started with sunny skies, the threat of thunderstorms moved the commencement ceremony inside on Friday, June 10. However, nothing could dampen the spirits of  friends, family and the 376 graduates who crowded the gymnasium and performing arts center.

As the band played pomp and circumstance, the class of 2011 and their faculty filed in to fill the floor, surrounded by a standing room only crowd. After the flag was presented and the National Anthem was sung by senior choir students Cristy Dougherty, Justin Linder and Ashley Stevens, Principal Paul Neubauer welcomed graduates and guests.

Zachary Knudson, Julia Frebault and Alex Everhart were chosen to give the class addresses, which centered around the class Motto, “If we want to go places we’ve never been, we must do things we’ve never done.”

Superintendent Ed Saxton and school board member Amy Kelly also addressed the graduating class. Alan Amundsen performed with his guitar.

Overall Student Awards went to Alex Everhart and Adam Zutz. Awards for outstanding volunteerism went to Marissa Sanow and Paige Gardas. Student Council President Mary Hunt and Vice President Mindee Adamson served as the announcers as the graduates crossed the stage to receive their diplomas.

The evening ended in a flurry of caps, just as the skies opened up and the downpour began.
