It's not always easy being in charge, especially when you're younger than the peers you are leading.

However, Junior Paige Aldrich found herself in this position when she was named a captain of her show choir team after the summer choreo camp.

“I've been doing show choir for four years, and I really enjoy how two things I love, can come together as one,” said Aldrich.

It's not easy being one of the top members of such an elite team.

“We have to go through a certain dance break for cleaning and make sure everyone is doing the same thing,” she said. “People can get distracted and lose focus. It’s my job to get them back on task.”

There are two female dance captains and two males. Katie Smith joins Aldrich with the women, while Owen Luckow and Cy Burns are in charge of the men.

“The hardest part is stepping up and taking charge,  when everyone is out of line,” she said.

Originally, Aldrich didn't think she could come up and be a role model, but after she gained confidence, she realized that she was the one for the job.

With all of the work, also comes some benefits.

“My favorite part is being able to be myself,” Aldrich said.

Aldrich has been a part of this team as it won two grand champs, and she plans on many more victories.

“After so much time and work,” she said, “nothing feels better than to come out on top.” - Profile by Tanner Kushier
