House Party Tour

House+Party+Tour

Tuesday October 1st 2013, A Day To Remember headlined the House Party Tour at the Roy Wilkins auditorium. The tour also featured pop punk band All Time Low, post hardcore band Pierce The Veil and the upcoming pop punk band The Wonder Years. We really wanted to attend this concert because our favorite band All Time Low was going to be playing. Going to this concert, we knew the three main bands since we’re huge fans, but for The Wonder Years, it was one of the first time we heard their music.

The Roy Wilkins auditorium was the perfect place for the House Party Tour to be held in Minnesota. It was great because there’s a huge main floor and balcony, which both have perfect views of the stage. The auditorium was a good size for the concert since it wasn’t over crowded with fans. The bands couldn’t have sounded any better, it was so amazing listening to their actual voices instead of just on headphones.

The set list for the concert was absolutely beautiful. The first three bands all played songs that got the crowd pumped for the headlining band, A Day To Remember. The headlining band played a lot of their popular songs like, “Over My Head” which they haven’t played in a long time. The Wonder Years opened up the show by playing their song, “Dismantling Summer”. Following them was Pierce The Veil who lit up the stage with their “PTV” band initials. In the middle of their performance, lead singer Vic Fuentes dedicated one of their songs to anyone who has ever felt like music has saved their live. This song is called “Hold on ‘Till May”. After Pierce The Veil cleared all their stuff off the stage, All Time Low put up their backdrop and took the stage. The band started with one of their more recent songs, “The Reckless and the Brave”. Midway through their performance, lead singer Alex Gaskarth ask the audience  for someone who knew every song and words to come up and sing with them. Alex Gaskarth and lead guitarist Jack Barakat picked a girl from the mosh pit who was dressed like band member Hayley Williams from Paramore to help them sing “Time Bomb”. To end their performance for the night the band played one of their new songs, “Love Like War” featuring lead singer Vic Fuentes from Pierce The Veil.

Once All Time Low was done with their performance for the night, the stage crew started laying out green carpet for the headlining band. Before the band came out a video came on the screen and was about starting the house party. After the video was over, the white screen fell revealing a stage house and smoke was pouring out of the garage door. The garage started to open and the band came out. The crowd was roaring as they started playing, “All I Want”. A few songs in, fire started shooting up from the stage with snow falling from the roof of the house. With all that going on a two men dressed up like santa and an elf came on to the stage and started shooting tee shirts into the crowd. Lead singer Jeremy  McKinnon calmed the crowd down after all that excitement and announced the band was going to do something they’ve never done before. The announcement was that the band was going to sing an acoustic song for the first time live. The acoustic song they played was called, “You Had Me At Hello”.

This was a concert where the bands wanted the fans to be crazy and just have the time of their life. When Pierce The Veil was performing their song, “King For A Day” they told the crowd to open up the middle so they could start moshing. Whenever there was a band up on stage there would be tons of people crowd surfing in the hope of making it to the stage.  All Time Low’s lead guitarist Jack Barakat really got the crowd excited when he came off the stage and into the crowd to let fans sing into his microphone. All the bands had people jumping, singing and clapping along to the songs.

Overall the show was a blast to go to. It was so much fun getting to see our favorite bands live and discover how great of a band The Wonder Years are. It was great how all the band’s got very involved with the fans and made sure everyone had fun. We both would totally go to another one of their shows the next time they come to Minnesota.
