Christofer Drew of Never Shout Never plays at Station 4 in St. Paul on Black Friday.

Usually people spend their Black Friday out shopping and going crazy over getting Christmas gifts, but at Station 4 in St. Paul, everyone was waiting outside until the doors opened at 5 PM to see Never Shout Never perform, with opening bands: Me Like Bees, Mod Sun, and Man Overboard.

Never Shout Never is an indie-pop band from Joplin, Missouri, and they have been making music ever since 2007 when they formed their group. The heartthrob lead singer, Christofer Drew Ingle, plays many of the instruments that create their music such as the harmonica, ukelele, and guitar as well. He’s currently accompanied by Taylor MacFee who plays bass and back-up vocals, and Hayden Kaiser who plays guitar, drums, bass and vocals.

Never Shout Never has been very successful throughout their career with 4 albums and 7 EPs and on the night of their latest concert, they played a variety of songs from all of their creations. The set consisted of 16 songs and an encore song.

NSN opened with Magic, which comes off of their lastest album, Indigo, released in the fall of 2012. It’s a song about his confidence and how he can have a good night on the town. It was honestly the best song they could have chosen to open up with to get the crowd warmed up. They followed with Trouble, On The Brightside, Coffee & Cigarettes, First Dance, What Is Love?, California Slang, Piggy Bank, and Sacrilegious.

Half way through the set, they played a song off of their album What Is Love? called Can’t Stand It. But there’s a twist… Ingle and his fellow bandmates decided to play the song as fast as they possibly could. Everyone in the crowd tried to keep up with every lyric, but it was pretty difficult. After the fun of that, they performed Cheatercheaterbestfriendeater, I Love You 5, Sellout, Ladybug, and Big City Dreams.

And finally, they closed with a slow song called The Past, and no one was ready to leave. As they scurried off-stage, the crowd was already screaming for an encore and that’s exactly what they got. They came back out and played Time Travel, and they hit it off. The whole night was a wonderful experience.
