Cameron Kaehler and Zach Foesch, are only two of the big shoes needed to be filled by the hockey team this year

As the cross country runners run their last race, football players make their last touchdowns, soccer teams kick their last goals, and tennis players have their last match, the hockey boys begin to lace up. With every change of the season, one sport ends and another begins. Snow be- gins to fall, windshields begin to freeze, and the St. Francis Boys Hockey Team prepares to take the rink and begin their season. Over the 2013 summer, there was a conference change, and now there are new teams to be put up against. Some teams seem unsure of the new conference and don’t feel as confident, but, sure enough, the Hockey boys couldn’t be more excited. “This new conference will be an advantage, potentially giving us a good shot at sections,” said Junior Jacob Bromen. The hockey boys are all waiting for the season to begin to finally be able to pursue their passion once again. “I can’t wait until the hockey season begins because with the new conference everything will be different,” said freshman Nate Schinander. Until the season begins, boys continue to train everyday to fully prepare themselves for what will be coming up in the winter months, even during the previous hot summer months. “There was hard work shown throughout the summer during hockey camps,” said Varsity Coach Tyler Schaff said, “and this hard work will hopefully pay off during the season.” Not only does the new conference take its toll on the boys, but also a loss of players from the previous year will have its own effect. This new season will be miss- ing 9 seniors from the previous year. Senior Ben Falk believes that spots need to be filled, and for that to happen the boys will need to work hard for the success. “Despite the loss of players from last year, we have a really good group of kids with positive attitudes,” said Junior Cameron Foesch, “also, this is one of the best St. Francis hockey teams that we have had, all we need to do now is put in the effort to succeed.” “We have big shoes to fill,” said Said Junior Dustin Doucette agreeing with Foesch.
